Getting her first tattoo more than 15 years ago sparked an interest in tattoos. Especially at that time in Japan, tattooing was very underground and hidden behind closed doors. This was mainly to do with how much of a taboo it was in Japan. Having to keep tattoos hidden from society meant careful thought about size and placement.
“A year and a half ago, I was given the opportunity to apprentice at Genbu Tattoo and I jumped at the chance to see if I had what it takes…..and here we are!”

Klaus has been tattooing for 20 years. He has spent time in some of Sydney’s premier studios before relocating to the Central Coast a decade ago and opening Genbu Tattoo in 2018.

Born in the 70’s, raised in the 80’s on a steady diet of skateboarding, punk rock and sci fi/horror films, the weird creative juices got flowing early for me.

Raised in the hell fires of Narara. Readysteadysteve has been crafting his skills as a tattoo artist for the past 2.5 years and continues to do so day in, day out.
